Beyond the surface | A journey through form & abstraction

“Beyond the Surface” presents a nuanced exploration of contemporary art’s diverse landscapes, where the corporeal and the abstract intersect in a dialogue of form, material, and concept. This exhibition challenges viewers to transcend initial visual impressions, encouraging a more profound engagement with the multifaceted layers of artistic expression. The assembled works offer a spectrum of approaches, each artist expanding the boundaries of their chosen media and inviting contemplation of what lies beneath immediate perception.

The assembled works present a rich tapestry of approaches, each artist pushing the boundaries of their chosen media. From Vinod Daroz’s ceramic explorations of sacred union to Somu Desai’s metallic meditations on societal facades, the exhibition probes the tension between exterior presentation and interior essence. This duality is further exemplified in Himanshu Joshi’s fractals of digital prints and Tapas Biswas’s mixed media sculptures, which reimagine urban consciousness through historical and futuristic lenses.

Gaurishankar Soni’s mixed-media compositions and Bhuwal Prasad’s tribal-inspired abstractions serve as poignant reminders of the depth inherent in the seemingly ordinary. These works challenge our perceptions, inviting us to look beyond the immediate and engage with the complexities that lie beneath.

As we navigate this curated landscape, we are confronted with the artists’ shared preoccupation: the interplay between surface and substance. Each piece serves as a portal, beckoning the viewer to penetrate the veneer of immediate perception and engage with the profound narratives and emotions that reside within.

“Beyond the Surface” is an odyssey through the strata of contemporary artistic practice. It challenges us to reconsider our relationship with art, urging us to look deeper, think further, and feel more profoundly. In doing so, it reveals the true power of abstraction and materiality in conveying the ineffable aspects of human experience.
