Hiren Patel, born in 1987 in Navsari, India, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Arts from B. A. Mehta Kala Maha Vidyalaya, Amalsad (2011), and a Master’s degree in Printmaking from the Faculty of Fine Arts, M. S. University of Baroda, Vadodara (2017). His artistic practice examines the complexities of modern village farming in South Gujarat, portraying the paradoxical realities of rural life. Deeply connected to the region’s agricultural landscapes, his work explores the interplay between tradition and innovation, addressing the environmental and societal impacts of contemporary farming practices.

Hiren held his first solo exhibition New Futures at Knots, Vadodara in 2018, followed by Journey of Wisdom at Art Privilege Gallery, Mumbai in 2020. He has participated in several prominent group shows, including Confluences by VHC at Stir, New Delhi in 2025; The Baroda March at Rukshaan Art, Mumbai in 2025; Sediments at Gallery Mold, Vadodara in 2025; MERAKI at Vis-à-vis Studio, Vadodara in 2023; Sheemesha Art Studio, Vadodara in 2021; Ground at Mimesis Print Studio, Baroda in 2019, and Interlude-1 at Knots, Vadodara in 2018, among others. Recently, he was an artist-in-residence at the Space Studio in Baroda. He was also awarded the prestigious Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation grant in 2025.

Hiren Patel currently lives and works in Vadodara, India.
